Welcome to the World of Dog Sitting in Washington DC

It all starts with a split second decision. One that would effectively change a life. Back in October, I decided to start a dog sitting business. I had been offered a dog sitting gig and made the decision to take it. Did I have any experience? Apart from owning a dog, no. This was just the beginning.

As luck would have it, it was a total success. I hit it off with the owners and from there DC Dog Sitting was born. Having no prior business experience certainly made it a challenging feat, but not an impossible one.

Progress was indeed slow. But, through referrals and word of mouth, I was able to expand my reach and gain many repeat clients, in addition to expanding my service offerings, including the addition of dog walking and drop-in visits. I am now three months in and I still have many of my original clients, which I’m incredibly grateful for. It is crazy to think what I thought of as a one-off gig turned into a full-fledged part-time job that is one of my top priorities along with still being in school.
